Citation of Research Papers Written by CS Department Researchers Increases (Expired)

In  recent years, there has been an increase in the average number of times that research papers written by researchers in the Department of Computer Science have been cited by other researchers.  The average number of times that papers were cited in the period 2004-2008 was about twice as high as the average from 2000-2004, which was itself higher than for any previous period.  The average number of citations was calculated using Science Citation Index (SCI) data. SCI is a well-known source of bibliographic and citation information.  Rankings were derived by observing which researcher's publications were cited by other researchers in 3,700 top scientific and technical journals in 100 subject areas.  Unfortunately, the University's agreement with Thomson Reuters, the providers of SCI, does not allow us to reveal specific numbers.
