Daryl Hepting named as CIPS Volunteer of the Month for September 2013 (Expired)

The Department of Computer Science is pleased to report that Dr. Daryl Hepting, a faculty member in our department, was named the CIPS Volunteer of the Month for September 2013 by the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS).  CIPS is Canada's leading association of Information Technology professionals.

This recognition was due in part to Dr. Hepting's recent work with CIPS Saskatchewan Executive Director Maria Galati to promote Computer Science Education Week (December 8 - 14, 2013, http://www.csedweek.org). With Ms. Galati, Dr. Hepting is organizing the fourth annual CIPS luncheon in support of Computer Science Education Week.   After last year's luncheon, an education committee was formed within CIPS Saskatchewan to promote CS education.  Dr. Hepting serves on this committee. Dr. Hepting has also worked with CIPS to promote Canadian Computing Education Day. The first such day was held in February 2013 and the next is coming up on February 21, 2014, http://www.cancomped.ca.  Finally, Dr. Hepting is active as a CIPS community blogger on ITworld Canada.
