Workshop held Nov. 15 for FIRST LEGO teams (Expired)

The Department of Computer Science is contributing towards hosting a community (unofficial) robotics tournament in 2015 amongst local groups registered as FIRST LEGO League teams.

Dr. Daryl Hepting, the department's contact with the FIRST LEGO League, reports that as of November 21, 2014, thirteen teams have registered. These teams come from southern Saskatchewan, with 2 from Moose Jaw schools, 2 from Treaty4 schools, 1 from Melville schools, and 8 from Regina schools and community groups.

An initial workshop was held on November 15 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in the Multipurpose Room, Riddell Centre.  The workshop was declared a success because there was strong attendance and many kids were happily engaged for the whole time (9am - 4pm).  The next workshop is planned for December 13, 2014. It is anticipated that the public will be invited from for the last hour, i.e. 3:00-4:00 pm as part of CS Education Week. Further workshops are tentatively scheduled for January 17 and February 7. Please contact Dr. Hepting for further information.
