Alfredo Marrero, CS Undergraduate Student, receives ISM Canada Computer Science and Technology Project Award (Expired)

Alfredo Marrero, CS Undergraduate Student, was selected to receive the $3000 ISM Canada Computer Science and Technology Project Award at a unique "Dragon's Den" style event at the University of Regina on April 24, 2015. Mr. Marrero designed a mobile app that allows friends to find one another. After finding a specific friend, the app also provides turn-by-turn directions to the friend's location.

The three-member celebrity panel was made up of Glen Davies (City of Regina), JC Garden (CTV Regina), and Raquel Fletcher (Global TV News). They asked questions of the nominees. The three-member academic panel of judges was made up of Drs. David Gerhard, Howard Hamilton, and Orland Hoeber, all faculty members in our department.

The other finalists for the award were: Bria Lubiens and Tobias Morch, who designed an online rock-paper-scissors games, along with a framework for tracking player statistics and tendencies.
