Computer Science Education Week 2014

Join the international celebration of Computer Science Education Week

December 8 - 14, 2014

Computer Science education is gaining international attention because of the importance to citizens and societies to be engaged in the technology that is shaping our world. For the 5th straight year, the Department of Computer Science at the University of Regina is marking Computer Science Education Week. The public is invited to the following events:

  • screening of the documentary film "Code Kids", followed by a discussion about Computer Science Education in Saskatchewan December 11, 7 p.m., Research and Innovation Centre (RIC) theatre, U of R ‐ Visit the event on Facebook
  • LEGO Robotics open house, where teams of students aged 9-14 who are preparing for Saskatchewan's first FIRST LEGO League tournament will show off their robots in action December 13, 3 p.m., Multi-purpose room, Riddell Centre, U of R ‐ Visit the event on Facebook

Last year, over 10 million students participated in the first Hour of Code, held in conjunction with CSEdWeek. This year, organizers want to reach 100 million students. Everyone is encouraged to participate and each organizer will be recognized. Please visit http://hourofcode.com/ca for more information. Amongst other prizes available, Brilliant Labs will provide the resources necessary, up to a value of $2000.00, to implement a technology based, hands on, student-centric learning project to one classroom in Saskatchewan.To be eligible for this prize, events must be registered before December 12, 2014.
