Computer Science Students' Society

As many of you are well aware, the CSSS has been busy building recently. We’ve put up an online forum (open to both the CSSS and the public), purchased a new CSSS server, re-designed our website, prepared the exam registry for launch, implemented a tutor list, and set up a draft seminar infrastructure.

First of all, for those of you who have not visited it yet, I encourage you to have a look at the CSSS forum. It can be found at http://csss.cs.uregina.ca/forum. Please feel free to sign up, whether you are a member or not! It may be a bit slow at present, since it is being hosted on a P/166, so please be patient. Thankfully, we have purchased a new server with dual AMD 1800+ CPU’s which should help rememdy any problems with the CSSS server. We are very interested in using this forum as the hub of CSSS activity in the future.

Speaking of activity: We recently held a CSSS LAN party. We were gaming at the Matrix for a full day. Contact our Events Director, Damon Cavan (cavandd@uregina.ca), for further plans or to sign yourself up. The rest of the CSSS Executive includes Ergun Gurak (President), Geoff Sinfield (VP), Myself (Communications Director), Glenn Zink (Treasurer), Ian Durey (Membership Director), Conrad Schmeling and Chris Safinuk (General Executive). To get in touch with us, please feel free to get our email addresses off of the CSSS website:
http://csss.cs.uregina.ca. The new website will be available sometime within the next two weeks, and we’ll be sure to let everyone know when that happens. Until then, see you on the forum!
