CIPS Accreditation

CIPS Accreditation
The University of Regina's B.Sc. and B.Sc. Honours degrees in Computer Science are accredited by the Computer Science Accreditation Council (CSAC), an autonomous body established by the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS). The CSAC works with academic institutions to ensure that educational programs prepare students for the demands of the Computing and Information Systems profession. Completion of accredited computer information systems programs assists graduates in pursuing the Information Systems Professional of Canada (I.S.P.) designation.

The Canadian Information Processing Society is a professional association providing leadership in information systems and technologies. CIPS provides a code of ethics for members, upholds standards of certification or members, and encourages educational program accreditation. More information about CIPS and the professional certification program can be obtained at http://www.cips.ca or (905) 602-1370.

The CIPS accreditation program was started in 1980 and the Department of Computer Science at the University of Regina was one of the first four departments in Canada to be accredited in 1982. It is the only Computer Science department in Canada to have been accredited continuously since then.
