Department Servers

The department operates the following servers and specialized hardware:

Hercules

Machine Name: hercules.cs.uregina.ca
Machine Type: Virtual Machine on Dell R530 hardware
Operating System: Scientific Linux v6.8 (a whiteboxed RedHat Enterprise Linux)
Capacity: 6 x vCPUs, 48GB RAM; 200 GB disk                                                                                           

This is the main undergraduate UNIX file and login server for the undergraduates. It is a virtual machine running on Neptune (VM host).

Neptune

Machine Name: neptune.cs.uregina.ca
Machine Type: Dell R530
Operating System: Linux
Capacity: 10(20 HT) core x "Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 2.30GHz"; 128 GB Memory; 9.6TB total disk capacity

This is the main undergraduate UNIX/Linux server hosting a virtualized environment for the department. It is located in the AdHum Data Centre. Provides file storage, software, and many other services to students.

Poseidon

Machine Name: poseidon.cs.uregina.ca
Machine Type: Dell R530
Operating System: Linux
Capacity: 10(20 HT) core x "Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 2.30GHz"; 64 GB Memory; 9.6TB total disk capacity.

It is the fail-over (backup) host for Neptune, which is the main undergraduate UNIX/Linux server. Located in the AdHum Data Centre.

Venus

Machine Name: venus.cs.uregina.ca
Machine Type: Dell R510 server
Operating System: Linux - Scientific Linux (a whiteboxed RedHat Enterprise Linux)
Capacity: Dual Xeon X5570 2.93GHz, Quad core, 64-bit, Hyperthreaded CPU; 16GB Memory - 32GB Virtual memory; 1.5TB Disk.

This is the main UNIX login server for the faculty, staff, and grad students.
It is located in the Data Centre.

Other Unix Servers and Workstations

The department supports a number of other Unix workstations and servers for various research groups within the department. These are located in the data centre and in various research labs.
