The department operates the following servers and specialized hardware:

Hercules

Machine Name: hercules.cs.uregina.ca.
Machine Type: Sun Microsystems Enterprise 250 Model 1400
Operating System: Unix - Solaris 9

Capacity: 2 x "Sun UltraSPARC-II" 400 MHz CPU; 2 GB Memory - 10 GB of virtual memory; 144 GB disk

It is the main undergraduate UNIX login server for the department.
It is located in the Data Centre.

 

Venus

Machine Name: venus.cs.uregina.ca.
Machine Type: Silicon Graphics Origin 200 server
Operating System: Unix - IRIX 6.5
Capacity: 180MHz MIPS R10000 64-bit CPU; 192MB Memory - 2GB virtual memory; 240GB of disk.

It is the main UNIX login server for the faculty, staff, and grad students.
It is located in the Data Centre.


 

SSD1/SSD2

Machine Name: ssd1.cs.uregina.ca/ssd2.cs.uregina.ca.
Machine Type: A matched pair of Sun Microsystems V240 servers
Operating in a failover configuration
Operating System: Unix - Solaris 9
Capacity (of each system): 2 x "Sun UltraSPARC-IIIi" 1Ghz CPU; 8GB Memory - 24GB virtual memory; 36GB of disk.

These servers power the SunRay Thin-Clients in CL136. They are located in the Data Centre.


 

McServer

Machine Name: mcserver.cs.uregina.ca.
Machine Type: Apple Xserve
Operating System: OS/X 10.5
Capacity: 2 x "Quad-Core Intel Xeon" 2.8Ghz CPU; 8GB Memory - 16GB virtual memory; 3TB of disk.

This server provides login authentication, remote desktops, and home directories for the UDML lab (Cl135). It is located in the Data Centre.

Other Unix Servers and Workstations
The department supports a number of other Unix workstations and servers for various research groups within the department. These are located in the data centre and in various research labs.
